ND-Affirming Individual Counselling and/or Mentoring

(Remote)

These services are ideal for Neurodivergent adults and adolescents in search of guidance to navigate the often perplexing neurotypical world.

Are you tired of feeling the need to mask your personality to feel accepted?

Do you want to explore new ways of making the tasks in your day-to-day life easier and less stressful?

Would you like to feel calmer and more regulated, and find healthy methods of support?

Everybody needs support and guidance from time to time. If you’re feeling stuck, alone, or confused – we’re here to help.

Your mentor or counsellor will talk through the things that you find challenging. This can be any topic such as:

  • Your personal life
  • Your professional life
  • Your relationships with people around you
  • Your mental health
  • Your education or learning

Together, we’ll explore how and why you’re experiencing difficulty.

An important part of this process will be exploring your neurodiverse characteristics and what they signify. This is a powerful way of embracing your own skills, abilities and strengths and learning how you can make the most of them.

In fact, the things that make us different are often great strengths. Autistic and neurodiverse minds are brimming with a wealth of skills and talents. Yours are unique and valuable – even if you don’t always feel it. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of support to learn how to use them effectively.

By getting to know and understand yourself, you’ll be able to make healthy choices that create the outcomes you’ve always dreamed of – whether that’s a great job, more fulfilling friendships, or a balanced routine with time for the activities that matter to you.

Optimal Support for Parents and Caregivers of Autistic or Neurodivergent Children:

ND-Affirming Counselling and Mentoring Sessions

When you’re a parent or caregiver to a neurodiverse child or young person, it might not always be clear how you can best support your loved one.

Maybe you have different communication styles. Perhaps you have different needs around your daily routines, or you aren’t always sure how to help when they’re having a hard time.

It’s understandable to feel overwhelmed or confused. And that’s why we created these mentorships for parents, families, and caregivers.

We provide a non-judgemental space for you to talk to an Autistic autism and neurodiverse expert that can provide personal and professional direct insights into what your child might be experiencing. Our Neurodivergent professionals will give you a patient, empathetic space to learn and discover ways of supporting your loved one.

With the right support and acceptance, your neurodiverse child or loved one will grow up to be a happy, healthy, thriving adult. We support parents with embracing their autistic/neurodiverse child for who they are, rather than trying to ‘solve’ them.

You can talk to your mentor by yourself, or in a group with your neurodiverse child and/or other family members. Read on to discover which mentorship option will be the best fit for your family’s needs.

Family, Duo and Couples Counselling

(Remote)

This service is so popular because of its effectiveness! This type of family therapy was designed for families, duos or couples who want to bridge communication gaps and nourish strong, healthy family bonds.

This service is for people who are finding it difficult to bond healthily with each other when there are different neurotypes at play in the relationship (i.e. a mixture of autistic and neurotypical people).

Family counselling is shown to help with topics including developing healthy boundaries and communication, building empathy, practising problem-solving, and reducing conflict.

Of course, what success will look like will depend on your relationships. Your mentor or counsellor will talk through the present dynamics with you to fully understand the present situation and how you’d like to move forward together.

When you have a mixture of neurodiverse and neurotypical family members, there can often be differences in communication style and preferences. It can feel isolating and frustrating to face these challenges in your family.

Nobody is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ – but sometimes you might need support to find strategies that help family members understand and honour each other’s needs.

We’ll work hard to understand where each member of the family is coming from, and we’ll help you find ways to understand and meet each other’s needs in healthy ways.

Our Autism Parent Mentorship Service

(Remote)

Designed for parents who want advice specifically about strengthening their parent-child bond with their autistic son or daughter.

We recognised that there were frustratingly few options for autism parents that offered a safe space to ask questions from a genuine Neurodivergent expert who they can trust. That’s why we created this mentorship!

Upon learning that their child is autistic, many parents are unfamiliar with neurodiversity and don’t know much about autism.

It can be a very overwhelming time. There is often limited general awareness (and unfortunately many common misconceptions) about autism, even amongst medical professionals.

You might be worried about your child’s wellbeing, whether they will feel excluded, and how their future might unfold.

Maybe you’ve found yourself trying to navigate appointments and waiting lists, or feeling isolated from other parents of neurotypical children.

But this doesn’t have to be the case.

You are not a bad parent and your child is not ‘naughty’ or ‘difficult’.  Your child simply needs to have different approaches and strategies to thrive.

We welcome you to ask any questions you need, however big, small, or strange they might seem. Then, we can help you develop a comprehensive, individualised plan to support both you and your child, whatever stage of development they’re at.
